Alexander Gustafsson questions Jon Jones’ character; calls ‘Bones’ a bully

Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson is set to challenge the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s current light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones at UFC 165, and motivating himself for battle against “Bones” doesn’t seem to be a problem for the Swedish mixed martial arts star.

That’s because the two MMA fighters have spent a decent amount of time together while promoting their scheduled five-rounder which is set for Sept. 21, at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada. Alexander claims Jones’ behavior when the cameras go off is nothing to be desired.

“He’s a little brat in an adult’s body. Jones is a very immature boy in a grown man’s body,” Alexander explained. “It is not always that a person is himself in front of the cameras, and that’s Jones. If you’re with him for a week, as I did at UFC World Press Tour … you see the way he behaves. He is a real bully.”

Jones tries to portray himself as one of the consummate professionals in MMA, so it’ll be interesting to see how he responds to Gustafsson’s criticism.

While Gustafsson still has a lot of respect as a mixed martial arts fighter, you certainly won’t find him wearing a “Bones Knows” T-shirt anytime soon.

“I am a professional and have great respect for Jones as a fighter,” Gustafsson added. “There are not many who can do what he has done and he deserves all the respect. But as a person, as a role model, I’m really not a fan.”
