Bellator 76 Results

The Bellator season 7 featherweight tournament got off to a good start, with three of the four advancing semifinalists winning via first round stoppage. Here are the results of the Bellator 76 fight card, held on Oct. 12, at the Casino Rama in Ontario, Canada:

Eddie Alvarez def. Patricky Freire

Alvarez dropped Freire early in the fight with a left hook, but “PitBull” came right back, hurting Eddie with a right-left combo. The pace of the fight slowed down afterwards, but Alvarez caught Freire with a right head-kick, knocking him out cold with two seconds left in the first round.

Rad Martinez def. Nazareno Malegarie

Both men came out swinging at Bellator 76, but Martinez landed the cleaner, more damaging blows. Martinez also mixed in a few takedowns. All three judges scored the fight, 30-27, in favor of Martinez, who advances to the semifinals of the featherweight tournament.

Wagnney Fabiano def. Akop Stepanyan

Stepanyan landed the cleaner strikes early in their Bellator 76 encounter, but Fabiano eventually closed the distance, taking the Russian to the ground. Stepanyan almost worked his way back up, but Fabiano was able to get him back on the canvas. Wagnney worked his way to mount, securing an armbar shortly after. Stepanyan refused to tap, but Fabiano wasn’t about to let go of the submission. He cranked up the tight armbar some more, eventually forcing Stepanyan to tap. With the win, Fabiano advances to the semifinals.

Mike Richman def. Jeremy Spoon

After a brief feeling out period, Richman caught Spoon with a left head-kick, knocking him out cold. “The Marine” tried to follow up with some ground-n-pound, but referee John McCarthy quickly jumped in and stopped the fight, 23 seconds into the first round of their Bellator 76 encounter. Richman is now a win away from competing in the season 7 featherweight tournament finale.
