Roy Nelson Compares Dana White to a ‘yapping’ Wife

UFC president Dana White has been pretty vocal about his dislike for “Ultimate Fighter” season 10 winner Roy Nelson, and he’s had a few harsh things to say about “Big Country” over the years.

However, Nelson doesn’t seem overly concerned with White’s comments, and he tried to explain the relationship between the two during an appearance on “The MMA Hour.”

“You just got remember that mine and Dana White’s relationship is like were a husband and wife,” Nelson told Ariel Helwani. “I do the man’s stuff around the house. I do the fighting, all the man’s stuff and he does all the woman stuff – all the yapping. … He’s more the 21st century [type], he’s the one who goes out and probably makes more money. Whereas I might make sure the house is clean, and all that, but at the end of the day I still do the man’s stuff – the lawn, the fighting, all the hard stuff.”

Roy Nelson isn’t exactly known for political correctness, so his comments aren’t that surprising to those who have followed him over the years. However, he might need to work on his armbar defense in preparation for the next time he runs into the Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey.

Nelson will coach against Shane Carwin in the 16th season of the “Ultimate Fighter,” which premieres on FX on Sept. 14. And his tension filled relationship White should make for some entertaining television. I’m sure “Big Country” will also extend his trash talk to Carwin, and that should increase the anticipation for the Dec. 15 fight between the two coaches.

Even though making fun of your boss isn’t usually the best idea, I don’t think Nelson’s dramatic relationship with White will have any negative impact on his career. They’ve never really been best friends, but the recent tension between the two seems more like a marketing strategy than actual beef.
