UFC Fight Night 45 Predictions

The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s will return to the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey for the UFC Fight Night 45 card. The event takes place on July 16 and will be headlined and co-headlined by a gang of top lightweights.

Here are my UFC Fight Night 45 predictions:

Donald Cerrone vs. Jim Miller

A year ago, Cerrone (23-6-0, 15 submission) had some issues inside the Octagon, but he’s been on a tear lately, racking up impressive victories against Evan Dunham, Adriano Martins, and Edson Barboza. His striking power and solid submission skills have been on full display during his recent run.

Miller (24-4-0, 14 submissions) is coming into this fight riding a two-fight win streak, but he hasn’t been fighting the caliber of MMA fighters Cerrone has. “Cowboy” should have a healthy advantage striking wise, and he’s also good enough to force a tap if the fight hits the canvas.

Miller might be able to make it a competitive fight if he brings his A-game come fight time, but he’ll likely still end up falling short against Donald.

Prediction: Cerrone wins via TKO.

Edson Barboza vs. Evan Dunham

Interesting matchup between two mixed martial artist coming off loses to Donald Cerrone. Barboza (13-2-0, 9 KOs) was on an impressive three-fight win streak heading into his bout against Cowboy, but Dunham (14-5-0, 6 submissions) had already lost two of his last three fights.

Dunham hasn’t been particularly impressive lately, and he’ll definitely have his hands full going against a versatile striker like Barboza at UFC Fight Night 45. Barboza’s grappling is also pretty good, meaning he should be able to force a standup battle or fight his way back to his feet if the fight hits the ground.

That’s not good for Dunham.

Prediction: Barboza wins via Decision.

Rick Story vs. Leonardo Mafra

Mafra (11-1-0, 8 KOs) wasn’t able to get much done during his UFC debut against Thiago Perpetuo, and the promotion’s matchmakers didn’t do him any favors by matching him against a vicious puncher like Story (16-8-0, 4 KOs). Story shouldn’t have any problems dictating where the fight takes place, so I expect him to slip-n-rip his way to victory.

Prediction: Story wins via KO.
