UFC Fight Night 46 Predictions

Heavily touted Conor McGregor will look to continue his dominance inside the Octagon when he takes on Diego Brandao at UFC Fight Night 46. The event will be held in on July 19 at the O2 Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

Here are my UFC Fight Night 46 predictions:

Conor McGregor vs. Diego Brandao

Some MMA fans might be turned away by the UFC brass’ overzealous marketing of McGregor (14-2-0, 12 KOs), but there are many good reasons why this guy is so hyped. From what we’ve seen so far, he’s a decent striker with a flashy arsenal who’s really good at evading strikes, he handles pressure extremely well, and he’s no slouch when it comes to wrestling. On paper, he certainly has all the tools needed to be a contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s featherweight division someday.

Brandao (18-9-0, 9 KOs) is a good striker as well, but he tends to absorb a lot of punishment during his fights, and his chin is a bit suspect. Still, he’ll be the best fighter McGregor has ever faced inside the Octagon.

With a stadium packed with Irish fans, it’s hard to see “The Notorious” losing this one. He should get the better of the striking exchanges, and he also has the option of putting Brandao on his back whenever he feels like it.

This is certainly his fight to lose.

Prediction: McGregor wins via KO.

Gunnar Nelson vs. Zak Cummings

Nelson (12-0-1, 8 submissions) has quickly racked up three wins inside the Octagon, establishing himself as one of the top prospects in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

His opponent, Cummings (17-3-0, 9 submissions), has been decent inside the Octagon as well, compiling a 2-0 record.

One will experience his first loss with the Ultimate Fighting Championship at UFC Fight Night 46.

Both men are solid grapplers, but Nelson is certainly the more decorated BJJ player. He should also enjoy an advantage standing up, which does not bode well for Cummings.

Prediction: Nelson wins via submission.
