UFC on Fox 11 predictions

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to national television for the UFC on Fox 11 card. Top heavyweight contenders Travis Browne and Fabricio Werdum will headline the event, Donald Cerrone and Edson Barboza meet on the main card, while top lightweight Rafael dos Anjos, and Khabib Nurmagomedov battle for supremacy on the undercard.

The event will be held on April 19 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

Here are my UFC on Fox 11 predictions:

Fabricio Werdum vs. Travis Browne
With three first-round KOs in his last three outings. Browne (16-1-1, 12 KOs) has a lot of momentum heading into UFC on Fox 11. Werdum (17-5-1, 9 submissions) has enjoyed lots of success since his return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, racking up three victories.

The winner of this bout will likely get a shot at the UFC’s heavyweight title, so motivation won’t be an issue for either man.

As impressive as Browne has been lately, Werdum’s improved striking coupled with his elite BJJ skills will likely prove to be too much for him, as long as the Brazilian doesn’t do anything stupid like trying to shoot for a single-leg against the cage.

I’m going with the upset here folks.

Prediction: Werdum wins by submission.

Donald Cerrone vs. Edson Barboza
Cerrone (22-6-0, 14 submissions) looked awesome during his last outing, knocking Adriano Martins out cold during the first round of their UFC on Fox 10 fight. Barboza (13-1-0, 9 KOs) on the other hand struggled early on during his last bout against Danny Castillo, but he managed to pull off the come-from-behind victory.

Cerrone doesn’t have the wrestling pedigree to ground Barboza like Castillo did, so this will likely turn into a kickboxing contest.

This UFC on Fox 11 bout should be an entertaining affair, with Barboza’s crisp technique giving him the edge.

Prediction: Barboza wins via decision.
