UFC on Fox 1 Predictions

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will start off their new partnership with the Fox Network on Nov. 12, with a title match between current heavyweight champion Cain Velazquez and number one contender Junior Dos Santos. The main event between Velazquez and Dos Santos will be the only fight televised live on Fox, and all other fights on the “UFC on Fox 1” card will be shown on Facebook and FoxSports.com. Here are my predictions for the “UFC on Fox 1” fight card, scheduled for Nov. 12, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA.

Cain Velasquez versus Junior Dos Santos

Prepare to see some serious punching power when these two heavy-handed MMA fighters meet inside the Octagon at “UFC on Fox 1”. Dos Santos’ BJJ should neutralize Velazquez’ wrestling and it might very well come down to who has the better strategy going into “UFC on Fox 1.” Both have very impressive resumes, but Junior has a little more experience against top level MMA fighters. Dos Santos wins by TKO.

Benson Henderson versus Clay Guida

A WEC import, Henderson is quickly establishing himself in the UFC’s lightweight division, winning his first two fights in the promotion. Henderson was particularly impressive in his last outing, taking out well respected MMA fighter Jim Miller from the lightweight title conversation. Guida has also been impressive lately, winning four fights in a row, but I don’t think he’ll be able to grind Henderson out. Henderson wins by decision.

Dustin Poirier versus Pablo Garza

Both MMA fighters have very similar records, but Poirier has a few more tools in his arsenal. Poirier should be able to get Garza to the ground and finish him off with a submission.

Cub Swanson versus Ricardo Lamas

Swanson has lost two of his last four MMA fights, but he should be able to turn things around against the less experienced Ricardo Lamas at “UFC on Fox 1.” Swanson is the better grappler, and that should be the difference maker in the fight. Swanson wins by decision.
